Discover how making conscious life choices can positively impact your life
What life choices can I make?
Are you living or being lived? Do others define how to live your life, or do you make your own authentic choices?
On this page you can read more about making conscious choices in life. Actually, everything is a choice. Even not choosing is actually a choice. But the more self-aware you are, and the clearer it is to you what there is to choose, the more consciously you can choose what you want (and what you don't want!) and focus on life's happiness.
Everyone is unique. With unique talents and character. Everyone's basic needs are to be seen and respected for who you are, what you want and to be allowed to safely share your feelings and ideas.
But in a world full of different norms and values, rules and laws, and where there is so much to see on social media, it is not easy to define your own authentic life choices. To know who you are, what you really want, and to translate that into what you do is your key to living a great life!
The 4 basic choices:
- Developing self-awareness - Who am I really? is a question that has been asked since time immemorial. But the oracle of Delphi has been replaced by a multitude of ways to find out. Self-help books, coaches and therapists, the Internet. 7Qi is based on understanding (the workings of) your body, your emotions, your beliefs, your feelings, your way of thinking, your inspiration and your inspiration. You can read more about it on the extensive page on self-awareness. The more aware you are about yourself, the clearer it is to you what your (7Qi) needs are, and how you can and want to make the next choices. Thus, improving your self-awareness is an important choice to make!
- Lifestyle - One of the first questions you can ask yourself (next) is: "do I believe that there more than this life?" If you believe in that, you will find many lifestyle choices in religion or spirituality. But whether you believe in more than this life, or don't believe in it: actually, you then eventually discover that the lifestyle choice is choosing a -anxiety focused- or a -love focused- lifestyle. You'll read more about it in this article. What moral values are your choice guideline? Do you know the voice of your conscience? What are your own derived norms and values, and how do you deal with the possibly different norms and values of others? You can read more in the articles below this green section.
- Life goals / manifestation goals - Choosing your own life goals requires personal leadership. Knowing what you want, what you can't (yet) do, and what you need and working on that. In this article you will find a handy '7Qi manifestation matrix' with goals related to all your 7Qi (e.g. how/where do I want to live, (how) do I work on health, what kind of work do I do and suits me, or what kind of relationship do I want). Awareness about your life goals (which you may well modify during your lifetime) largely determine your focus on things that are important to you, and things that are less important to you. Keep in mind that finding 7Qi balance is important in this. Work that does not suit you or mind-numbing work can exhaust you or even make you sick. A constant focus on material things can get in the way of your relationships. And working on your (self) development and self-awareness is good, but don't forget to live real life too! (Doing things, and experiencing loving togetherness!).
- Resolving disruptions - An important triangle is the triangle of “can-want-& do. You want all kinds of things, but can you do them?
- This starts with discovering talents and developing skills.
- It also involves breaking through limiting beliefs.
- It starts with developing self-awareness and discovering your limiting beliefs! (the first choice point mentioned) and breaking (unconscious) limiting patterns.
- One of the most important learned (and often unconscious) patterns is your attachment style. The way you form relationships with others. You can read more about this on the attachment page. Breaking an insecure attachment style takes time, but is a huge investment in yourself and the world around you!
- And it's about flexibility in, adapting to, and nuancing limiting beliefs Learning to see that there are more “truths.
- For some of us, the challenge of resolving distortions is more challenging than for others. In today's “self-help” and spiritual information sources, it sometimes seems that life's happiness is a matter of effort and 'attainable'. And of course, through motivation, focus, commitment, and with positive programming (via neuroplasticity) and discipline, you can achieve a lot. But it's not always down to yourself if something happens to you and/or you don't achieve it. Certainly, happiness and goals are, in a sense, malleable. But not within a narrow view of health, a relationship and material wealth. Besides, happiness is not a goal but a way of life:
- With some disabilities or living conditions, for example, it is more about acceptance and finding opportunities within existing limitations.
- Or choosing loving behavior instead of complaining despite setbacks.
- Or about not being so preoccupied with yourself but also helping with help, faith, hope or comfort for the less fortunate among us (actually solving an individualism or egocentrism disturbance) and discovering that there is a world of happiness in that.
- Or on the contrary, learn to set boundaries and positively address people on their own responsibility and commitment (solving a self-help syndrome).
You don't have to make all the choices right away, of course. But it is wise to work on self-awareness and knowing what you want. The alternative is that others determine your life to a large extent and that is not always the best choice for you.
Choices have consequences. Making choices means bringing focus into your life. And being willing to leave things or not do things as well. Making sacrifices with a greater purpose in mind. In which an important (moral) consideration is: do my choices affect others negatively or positively?
